THANK YOU FOR STRANGLING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

I remember hearing of how mass transportation was strangled way back when, so the more lucrative car for everybody culture could go forth and strangle us all. Not only does pollution and its car connections threaten the planet, but our consumer lifestyle is driving the worlds emerging “individualist” to all want the same things.

We gamble that some new discovery will magically save us in nick of time, but time may have already run out. Yet where is the US governments response to out of control oil prices expected to top out at up to $175.00 a barrel!  What are the plans?  The We the People plans? Were all in this together only when terror threatens the wealth’s portfolio’s, otherwise, the rest of us are good only for recruiting to fight purposes.  Go screw yourself, you want something for nothing liberals?

In these coming hurricanes, we are all in the bathtub together, the conservatives hands are legally around our necks.  For the structure of nation, the opportunist wind only blows one way.  Who can raise their prices, while you cannot raise you wages, or claim; “I am paying less on all my bills because I no longer can keep up with inflation.”  Right!

So in honor to the upcoming end of things I would like to thank all the predatory opportunist who live to destroy the commons and make a buck out of parting creation out to the highest bidder. I understand why you never gave a damn about me, or us. I know how appealing and addicting greed is. It is so addicting when one rises above the commoners; that being more like God in ones own mind and being able to display the evidence around you, seems like an ego’s grandiose dream come true.

I am glad to pay more and more until the wallet is empty so the wealthy oil executives and stock holders keep secure in their high expectation lifestyle. We live for your service, and I’m quite confident everyone reading this will send you a thank you card (if stamps are under a dollar) when our cars are decommissioned. We will wait for trains that do not come to anywhere near us. Commercials will tell how walking is so healthy for those of you who must.  How secretly lucky you are by your situation.  Don’t be too surprised if it happens.  But then; why would they even waist money on telling us how lucky we are to be in poverty?  Probably won’t have TV sets anymore!

So here’s to opportunist one and all. As societies and cultures atrophy around the rest of us, I hope your mansions air conditioners will work fine off of those personal oil and gas storage tanks of yours.

FOR TEXT ME–NOT

I am glad that I’m old enough not to get in on the texting craze.  Like I need to be typing symbols and nultiple punches just to get one letter, I can barely make out the numbers on my phone!

I once upon-a-time used a pager, before this millennium, to send symbols that meant words.  It was a cute way to send a message and not have to make an actual phone call, whoopee!

I see these kids walking down the street while looking insane and punching out whatever, like the car heading right at them didn’t matter.

Once it was the sorry sorts who had their “heads up in the clouds.”  Now we have the makings of many ailments to come for these join in the crowd text messengers, with their eyes in their fingers  Blurred vision, nerve damage to fingers and what not.  Not to mention that dent they left in some cars hood.

YOU’VE GOT SOME SPLAINEN’ TO DO!

Where you live in the country or world will certainly make a difference in my questions to you, or about others. When I moved from the Chicago to California, I was shocked for how bad the drivers were there. That did not prepare me for how bad they were in Portland Oregon. Which in tern, did not provide any insight at all at how awful drivers could be until I moved to the renowned (actually!) friendly city Of Tucson AZ. However, I do hear that things do not get much better to the northwest in Phoenix.

For this post, I am only talking about driving a car. There are certainly other differences as well.

TRUE FOR YOU TOO?

Nowadays in Arizona, it is not unusual to have cars come up behind you at night an never dim their bright lights. It is not just inconsiderate, it is physically dangerous, blinding the driver in front and making them have to possibly maneuver in position to avoid the glare. That takes concentration off the road ahead.

It might have been this way for some time, but it was not always so in the past. I imagine it is all part of the self centeredness running rampant in a culture that has many feeling they are all on their own to survive, who cares about the other guy. You might be on the phone or talking, doing more important stuff than watching out for one another where it is most relevant in the moment.

Tucson was something like the worst city for light running in the nation. One can often see 5 cars making a left after the light has already turned green for the cross street. Tucson has at least a 3 second delay from red to green to accommodate slow reactions. The amazing aspect of this phenomenon is; you can go from intersection to intersection and see the same thing happen just minutes later. What are the odds that only people who turn left, turn without ever knowing if the light has turned against them?

For some reason, it is implied that a possible majority of drivers will do this; follow the leader and hope for the best. I have seen this happen a hundred or more times and never was there a cop. I have often seen gross moving violations with a cop right in the front of the intersection, and still no action. In 40 years of driving, I have never gotten a moving ticket, (one parking ticket the first year I drove to visit a sister at college and got a parking ticket for parking in a way I did not know was wrong. Ignorance is no excuse)

Then there are those always bright blinding blue lights.

FOLLOW THE CROWD PLEASE

First there was the slob look, which lacking anything more enticing, became the “bed head” conformist hair style still an essential in some conformity fit in and look groovy corners.

So I have decided to up the ante. Soon everyone over half a century old will be coloring their skin and having cool hair like mine here.

And then for the cult of narrow glasses that once looked like they were for the ultra cool nerd who likes to look at their rims, but became the norm, they still look ridiculous to me. But not to be a Luddite and not follow the crowd to advancement up with the trends nirvana. I have styled my new line of glass frames that are sure to keep the Joneses biting at your heels.

SINCE GAS HIT $10 A GALLON

HELLO END OF THE ROAD!

I wonder if we will get socialism all of a sudden when gas hits ten dollars a gallon? Will we all have to start bike riding and walking 15 miles to work then? I doubt if I will get a raise to cover the thousand dollar a month transportation cost.

Could it be they will nationalize transportation, so the poor and left over middle class could still afford to travel to clean and care for the homes of the very well to do? Maybe we will go back to the walled in estates with servants quarters. Or horse lanes along highways. Will a buss pick up hitchhikers? How about horse pulled little trains.

When gas is $10 a gallon, I guess we will all need gardens very close by. The cost of shipping most everything will have become outrageous. Will those rich or righteous right wingers still call everyone not like them whiners and losers? When the government has to intervene just to keep people alive and not dropping along the road or the sidewalk, will the conservatives still call helping them socialism; the welfare or nanny state?

We will probably find the victims of run away conservatisms greed and fear based economy, being blamed by them somehow, when gas hits $10 a gallon.
